SEGL 10th Anniversary Celebration

![](http://schoolforethics.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/unnamed-6-690x501.jpg =341x248)We are delighted you are planning to join us October 18-20, 2019 in Washington, DC for an unforgettable 10th Anniversary Weekend! We hope this page will help you answer some of your most important questions about the biggest celebration in our history.

How to register

To register for the weekend, click here. If you would like to donate to SEGL to help defray the costs of the celebration, please click here. (Our suggested donation is $60/person or $100/couple. This includes five meals and a copy of keynote speaker Samantha Power’s new autobiography, The Education of an Idealist.)

where to stay

Through a special partnership with the Capitol Hill Hotel we are able to offer a limited number of rooms at a reduced rate. To see if there are still rooms available, click here or call (202) 448-2081 and mention “The School for Ethics and Global Leadership.”

Important: Though SEGL does not provide supervision of graduates during our 10th Anniversary Weekend, we want the experience to be safe, inclusive and positive for everyone. The hotel requires (and we strongly urge) that all high school students have an adult chaperone in their hotel rooms. We strongly discourage underage students from staying unsupervised in Airbnb housing, in older relatives’ college housing, etc.

Frequently-asked questions

1. May I bring a friend to an anniversary event last-minute?
We strongly encourage everyone to RSVP well in advance for all events to avoid uncomfortable last-minute frustration. We have had an unprecedented response to our weekend activities and as a result space is limited for all events. Unfortunately, for security reasons we cannot accommodate last-minute guests at the United States Institute of Peace. We may not be able to accept last-minute guests at other venues as well.

2. Is there still room at the Samantha Power event?
Currently there are more RSVPs for the Samantha Power event than seats in USIP’s Carlucci Auditorium. We are working to arrange an overflow room for Samantha Power event attendees. Unfortunately, we cannot hold spaces for this event in advance; seats will be available on a first-come, first-served basis on Saturday. Attendees may not “reserve” seats early in the day, leave for the morning, and then come back for this event.

3. What should I wear?
Dress for Friday, Saturday daytime, and Sunday is business/dressy casual. Dress for Saturday evening is business/cocktail/formal (no need for a tuxedo/evening gown!)

4. Will Samantha Power sign my book?
We are working to make sure everyone has an autograph from Ambassador Power. Due to her schedule and our desire to allow for as many questions during her session she will not be able to inscribe books in person.

5. Where can I park?
We strongly recommend using public transportation or taxi/ride-share service to and from all weekend events. We have provided parking information for our venues listed above.

6. Are the venues handicapped-accessible?
Yes, all SEGL 10th Anniversary Weekend venues are handicapped-accessible. If you would like assistance in planning ahead, please contact Natalia Straus at natalia.straus@schoolforethics.org.
